Special Services Offered

Contract Technical Personnel
We can assist you by providing technical and clerical personnel on a short or long-term contract basis. We realize the importance of this service to you is time, so we pride ourselves on reacting promptly to your supplemental manpower requests.

Blast Resistant Building Design
Our firm has applied various concepts to develop complete structural designs for blast resistance in new and existing buildings—these include concrete filled CMU walls, poured-in-place concrete, and tilt-up type construction. Roofing structures, both new and existing, are also designed and/or modified to resist specific blast loads. A design concept is chosen based upon our client’s application requirements.

Pressurized Industrial Control Buildings
Our expertise in the design of pressurized buildings in explosive/corrosive environments began its development almost 25 years ago. Since that time, we have provided many successful designs (in accordance with NFPA 496) of pressurized control buildings, laboratories, electrical equipment rooms, changehouses, etc. Our designs are appreciated by our clients because of their simplistic approach and ease of maintenance.

Laboratory Facility Design
Spectrum Engineering offers HVAC, pressurized building design, energy audits, laboratory design, blast resistant building design and building servicesSpectrum Engineering, Inc.’s
Building Services group has the necessary expertise to determine whether the dynamics of a laboratory justify constant volume or variable air volume design. We have successfully applied variable air volume design concepts and avoided the initial and operating costs of hundreds of tons of air conditioning. We understand the critical elements of successful laboratory HVAC designs—maintaining proper temperature and humidity control while, simultaneously, achieving proper air pressure relationships to provide a safe laboratory work environment.

Industrial Ventilation
Proper ventilation of work environments includes removing heat at the generation source, providing enough air movement so that the proper “effective temperature” is generated, and employing spot cooling where necessary. Our firm has developed successful ventilation designs using crossflow and vertical flow ventilation techniques. Our designs have satisfied requirements for both personnel comfort and achievement of LEL criteria. We have provided ventilation designs for warehouses, manufacturing areas, pilot plants with potentially explosive atmospheres, and general storage facilities.

Building Design In Corrosive Environments
Often buildings are located, out of necessity, in corrosive areas. Our firm has expertise in choosing building materials which are resistant to different types of corrosive environments. We are also experienced in selecting proper materials or providing chemical resistant coatings to protect the building’s HVAC systems. Further, our designs include the capability to develop and maintain proper building pressures to prevent entry of corrosive exterior atmospheres.

Energy Audits
Our firm has the expertise to provide energy audits which can potentially reduce energy costs in our client’s facilities. We have experience providing energy audits in single buildings, industrial complexes, and entire university campuses. Our analyses include the building’s envelope, its HVAC systems, and its methods of operation.

Process Plant Control System Upgrades
Spectrum Engineering offers instrumentation engineering, control systems design, dcs, plc, scada tmr systems, loop diagrams, logic diagrams, ladder drawings, wiring diagrams, fieldbus, modbus, profibus systems.
Spectrum has extensive experience in process plant control systems involving design of various DCS systems. Spectrum has experience using Honeywell TDC-2000, 3000 and Plantscape; Fisher Provox Delta V; Foxboro I.A. and Spec 300; Bailey’s Infa90; Rosemount RS-3; Moore Products’ APACS and Quadlog; and Yokogawa Centum. We have experience in the design of various programmable logic controller systems, including interfacing with DCS systems using Modicon, Allen-Bradley, Texas Instrument, Siemens, Square D and Automate Equipment to name a few. Spectrums personnel have also designed DCS/PLC communication links using fiber optics and wireless systems. Spectrum also has experience in upgrading an existing plant from pneumatics and conventional single loop control to distributed control with minimal shutdown time.

Spectrum Engineering, Inc. has over 15 years of experience with turbomachinery control systems in the pipeline, oil and gas, and petrochemical industry. Specific areas of expertise include compressor surge control and capacity control systems, gas turbine fuel control system retrofits, steam turbine governor retrofits, as well as integrated unit control and safety systems.

Burner Management Systems
Spectrum Engineering, Inc. offers process/combustion engineering services for grassroots and retrofit projects involving boilers, fired heaters and flares.

Pressure Vessel Design
Spectrum Engineering, Inc. has extensive experience in the preparation of pressure vessel specifications and associated data sheets to ASME and API standards. Codecalc is utilized to generate the design calculations.

Match Marking and Barcoding for Plant Relocations
Plant Relocation engineering services has come to the information age. We at Spectrum Engineering, Inc., have developed a system to inventory a process facility into a database via the existing documentation, assign a unique identification number to each piece, barcode the piece and track that piece all the way from dismantling to resurrection. We provide our clients the database with each tagged item, matching drawings to help identify that item, and the barcodes to affix to each identified item.
